The chief minister Dr Manik Saha today left for Delhi to meet and hold discussion with the president Ram Nath Kovind on courtesy call , prime minister Narendra Modi, union home minister Amit Shah, union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and minister for highways and infrastructure development Nitin Gadkari. This is Dr Manik Saha’s first visit to Delhi as chief minister of the state. Official sources here said that Dr Saha has gone with a detailed memorandum listing demands and requirements of the state and copies of it will be submitted to the prime minister and all other ministers. Even though the current year is election year the state government is short of adequate funds and the chief minister is likely to press for sanction of more funds to meet the requirements of the state, sources said.

Apart from this in a felicitation programme yesterday in the BJP party office here Dr Saha gave a strong signal to the leaders of the party, various Morchas and members of the core group that indiscipline and malpractices committed by elements within the party will not be acceptable. He specifically said that if a party books a town hall or auditorium first they should not be disturbed and should be allowed to organise their programme. Besides he also strongly disapproved of the hooliganism in general and during elections in particular. “If we do good work people will automatically support us , where is the need for dragging people from before the polling booths or giving threats and intimidations from house to house before election; if anyone indulges in such activities he or she will do so at their own risk” said Dr Manik Saha . The message is considered significant and in stark contrast with the dark days in the recent past.
