Police Inspector, two other drug peddlers arrested with Phensedyl

In a significant achievement over the ‘Nesha Mukt Tripura’ drive, the state police has arrested three persons including a police Inspector and recovered a huge quantity of contraband items under their possession from Gabardi Chumohani area under Srinagar police station.

Police sources said that based on secret information a contingent of police forces led by SDPO (Amatali) on Sunday night raided at the Gabardi Choumohani area and detained three persons and also seized three cars and a motor bike. During the search operation, a police team recovered 4,734 bottles of Phensedyl hidden in these cars through 17 bags.

Police said that among the arrested drug peddlers one Police Inspector identified as Suresh Debbarma posted at Sepahijala district has also been caught during their narcotic smuggling. Other two drug smugglers arrested are identified as Prabir Rupini of Champaknagar and Birendra Debbarma of Takharjala area.

Police added that a specific case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS act) has been registered against three arrested persons including against police inspector and they will produce before a local court on Tuesday with police remand appeals for further investigation.
