The Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Civil Aviation, General (Retd.) Vijay Kumar Singh on Sunday arrived in the state capital for three days visit to review different central sponsored developmental works.

Transport and Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy along with few BJP leaders received the former chief of Indian army at Agartala airport.

While, speaking with media persons V K Singh said that he will review the central sponsored different developmental works going on across Tripura and will also monitor these projects.

Transport Minister Pranajit Sinha Roy said that Union Minister V K Sinha will visit the North Tripura district on Monday and will review the ongoing construction of the national highway.

It may be recalled here that the visit of the Union Minister of state for Road Transport and Highways is assumed very significant after torrential rain lashes parts of Northeast disrupting state’s road and rail communications triggering fear of a crisis of essential commodities. After massive damages of roads in a few portions of national highway-8 and cut off of rail link, speedy repairing and construction works are going in different areas of NH and V K Singh will monitor these construction works on Monday. Tripura has been cut off from the railway link after a massive landslide in Haflong area of Assam since the past one week, which will take at least three months for restoration of damaged rail tracks.
