State govt reduces security cover from ex-CM convoy

Amidst criticism from opposition political parties after former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb enjoying undue privileges after seven days of his stepped down, on Sunday the state government has reduced his security cover.
Highly placed sources in Tripura police have confirmed that existing security cover given to former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb has been reduced and altogether three cars including first pilot car, tail car and spare car and its security forces were dropped from the convoy of Deb.
Deb, who got the āZā category security cover after he was elected as 10th Chief Minister of Tripura, but after stepping down as chief minister on May 14 , 2022 last till Sunday, Deb accorded the same security cover.
Sources said that the state police does not get any instruction over downsizing the category of security cover being given to Deb, but by maintaining all security norms and analyzing threat perceptions, the Security wing of the state police on Sunday dropped three cars from his long convoy.
