DYFI leader thrashed by miscreants at Khowai

In a fresh incident of political violence, one youth leader of CPI(M) on Sunday afternoon was attacked by a group of miscreants owing allegiance to the ruling party and seriously injured him at Singhicherra area under Khowai police station.

After the incident, opposition CPI (M) gheraoed the Khowai police station demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants responsible for the brutal attack on DYFI’s state committee member Ashim Das.

Sources said that on Sunday afternoon after attending a political programme of CPI (M), DYFI leader Ashim Das was returning his house and when he reached at Singhicherra area, a group of miscreants led by local BJP leader Gopal De thrashed him severally and has also attacked on him with sharp weapons. After hue and cry, local people rushed to the spot and miscreants had escaped from the incident area.

Later, injured Ashim De was shifted to Khowai district hospital. Condemning the incident local MLA Nirmal Biswas alleged that a rule of terror prevailing in the state and opposition leaders are now being attack on broad day light. Since the inception of BJP government, political attacks on opposition have also continued across Khowai district, but till date none of miscreants of ruling party has been arrested, said Biswas and added that they will continue their agitation demanding arrest of all miscreants.
