Delegation of opposition MLAs visit three subdivisions, meet common people

A delegation of opposition CPI (M) MLAs headed by leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar and comprising Ratan Bhowmik, Bhanulal Saha and Shahid Chowdhury yesterday the interior areas of Karbook, Amarpur and Udaipur subdivisions to interact with common people and listen to their grievances. They were accompanied by Gomati district committee chief and former MLA Madhav Saha, Karbook subdivisional committee chief Priyamoni Debbarma, Amarpur subdivisional committee secretary Parimal Debnath and Udaipur subdivisional committee chief Manik Biswas.

The delegation was warmly received in Karbook, their first destination, where people from 22 village committees from Karbook RD block and 8 village committees from Shilacherri RD block had come to give an idea of the tremendous crisis facing them under the present government. On the next lap the delegation reached Dalakbari under Amarpur RD block where also people from 15 village committees had come to brief the delegation about their pitiable plight under the misrule of the incumbent BJP government. They had come, braving inclement weather. Finally the delegation visited Hirapur under Udaipur subdivision and spoke to people from two village committees.

Sources in the CPI (M) said that the people who had come to meet the delegation said how they had been suffering from lack of MGNRGA work, non-payment of dues for work done, pitiable condition of road, crisis of drinking water and lack of avenues for earning livelihood. The delegation led by Manik Sarkar assured them that they will raise these issues at the state level and prevail upon the government to provide relief to the people.
