THC directed to take action against dy. Secretary Health for filing untrue affidavit, directed to pay Rs 20 lakh compensation of lawyer family

The state high court has directed the state government to pay a total of Rs 20 lakh as compensation for the untimely death of young lawyer Bhaskar Debray. At the same time, the High Court has directed that the recommendations of the Death and Audit Team for the development of the infrastructure of the Trauma Center of GB Hospital must be implemented by May 31.
In addition, the state government should expedite the implementation of the Supreme Court's directives in the Save Live Foundation case to increase public awareness about the need for speedy transport of road accident victims to hospitals and to ensure that all citizens who are involve in rescue of the injured in accidents are not subjected to police harassment. On May 12, a division bench headed by the Chief Justice of the High Court directed this to the Director General of Tripura Police.
The High Court has also directed the state government to take appropriate action against the deputy secretary of the health department for filing an irresponsible and untrue affidavit in the high court in the case of untimely death of lawyer Bhaskar Debray. In a public interest litigation filed by lawyer Pulak Saha, Chief Justice Indrajith Mohanty and Justice S.S. G. Chattopadhyay's division bench gave the above instruction.
It may be mentioned that on March 6, 2020, the firefighters transferred lawyer Bhaskar Debray to the Trauma Center of GB Hospital. The lawyer was rescued from the national highway in an injured condition. The lawyer died at the Trauma Center on the morning of March 6. It was alleged that, the lawyer died without treatment at the trauma center and the people of the house were not informed even. Lawyers and law students are protesting the death of a young lawyer without treatment at a trauma center. The public interest litigation was filed alleging untimely death.
