Woman kidnapped from city, gang rapped

Agartala, August 14, 2019: One 31 years old woman was brutally gang raped after kidnapping her from Battala area of Agartala on Monday night and miscreants dumped the victim woman in Moloynagar area after critically injured her.

This shameful incident came to light on Tuesday afternoon after  victim woman was recovered by the some local villagers of Moloynagar area, at the outskirts of Agartala  in blood ridden condition as he she was stabbed by unknown miscreants in her throat and neck.

Some villagers rescued her in half-necked conditions and shifted her at Anandanagar primary health centre.

Immediately, police personnel from Srinagar police station rushed to the spot and shifted her at GB Hospital in critical condition. Police also recorded the statement of victim and lodged an FIR under section 376(B), 326 and 307 of IPC for rape and attempt to murder.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Srinagar police station, Subimal Barman said that as per the recorded statement of the woman, on Monday evening, when she was boarded in a auto rickshaw from Battala to reach Hawkers Corner. Two unknown youths, who were already boarded in the auto rickshaw, had kidnapped her with the help of auto driver. After kidnapping the woman, all miscreants boarded in the auto-rickshaw repeatedly raped her in the jungles of Moloynagar and Anandanagar area. After committing the crime, miscreants also stabbed her with a sharp weapon in her throat and neck, said Barman. Later, miscreants dumped her in a street of Moloynagar.

Police added that all necessary steps including recording of statement of victim, medical tests etc were conducted before lodging the FIR. He added that investigation is going on to trace these miscreants, responsible for heinous crime.

The victim is a resident of Sekherkhot area under Amtali police station and she was deserted by her husband about ten years ago, said police adding that the relatives of the victim were also informed about the incident.
