The Congress in Tripura is all set to have a new president for the party’s youth wing, the Youth Congress. Tanmay Chakraborty, a camp follower of PCC president Birajit Sinha, is all set to win the election to the post of state Youth Congress president because he is assured of 65-70% of the total votes aligned with the PCC faction led by Birajit Sinha. There were other candidates for the election like Abhijit Sarkar, Sirajul Islam, Rakhu Das, Anupam Paul and Shahin Debbarma. Sources in Congress said that at least two among the six aspirants for the post of YC (I) president have tainted past as the two were accused of cheating and woman-related crime for which one of them spent many days in jail.Two others had failed to submit papers as candidates in time. 

Sources said that the state Congress will have a new breath of life under the leadership of Birajit Sinha with Tanmay Chakraborty as deputy in the post of Youth Congress (I) president. Sources said that the election to the post of Youth Congress president has generated lot of enthusiasm and interest among party workers and supporters, paving the way for revival of the party in the state.
