TSR deployed in other states in deplorable conditions, alleges Manik Sarkar, Jiten demands for proper measures to contain Covid infection

Agartala, January 14, 2021: Opposition leader Manik Sarkar in a letter to the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has raised serious allegation over deployment of TSR battalions in other states of the country.

Sarkar in his letter to Chief Minister on Thursday has said that during decade long insurgency and to combat the menaces, one by one TSR battalions were raised, which is also a continuous process. Though, as per Indian Reserve (IR) battalion norms, the jawans have to move in other states of the country for law and order duties.

But, recently, a section of TSR jawans were deployed in other states for long period, which has raised dissatisfaction and anger among a section of jawans due to deplorable conditions of their living in other states as because government failed to provide them proper logistic and flooding support, alleged Sarkar and added that resulting jawans are suffering a lot.

He also said that the deplorable conditions of living has creates depression among the jawans, which is not acceptable and will not a good sign for the state.

Sarkar felt that in such circumstances and for the greater interest of state’s people, all the TSR jawans deployed in other states of the country should be return back for overall law and order situation of the state.

While, in another press statement CPI (M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury has also raised serious concern over the measures of the state government, which has been taken to contain the spread of Covid-19 and Omicron infection.

Chaudhury through his statement has demanded for adequate kits for detection of Omicron variant of coronavirus in every subdivisions of the state with sufficient supply of medicines, oxygen with adequate manpower in every health centres.

He also demanded that government should bear all expenses for the treatment of Covid patients and the families should be given free rice and other essential food items. CPI(M) has also demanded for appointment of all unemployed doctors, nurses and other paramedics on emergency basis to tackle with worsening Covid situation.
