TIPRA Motha launches anti-drug campaign, holding awareness camps

Besides the struggle for having a political hold on the development activities of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, the TIPRA Motha undertook some social work to make society free of drug menace. In the first step, the party has launched an awareness campaign in different parts of the council area.

The party has already organized two awareness camps at Shikaribari and Labanya Sardar Para where people were asked to remain free from the menace of the drug as it destroys families and social life. Party sources said they are going to organize similar camps at Tulasikhar, Mungiyakami, Padmabil, Kalyanpur and Teliamura shortly.

The party giving maximum importance to the Khowai district as it turns out to be the drug hotspot in terms of smuggling of contraband items and the number of addicted persons. According to sources, police recovered drugs worth rupees more than three crores during the last two months. A good number of drug-addicted persons also were arrested while few died due to drug relate aliment.
