The newly formed Tripura Democratic Front (TDF)'s women wing leader Shreyasi Laskar has condemned today's election to Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and twelve other civic bodies across the state as a 'total face and a cruel joke on the voters of the state'. Speaking to this correspondent Shreyasi said that as a candidate of TDF for Ward no-23 of the AMC she could never really campaign and today it was took risky for her to even approach the polling booths in the Ward she was fighting for. "Nothing like this has ever happened in the AMC polls earlier; what I have heard from party's senior leadership is that the election in the state capital was never troubled by violence , threat and intimidation ; even though I stood as candidate for a new party I too was not spared from the terror tactics of BJP , being warned against going out and campaigning for the polls" said Shreyasi .
She said that as ruling party BJP had a fair prospect in the election but they have proven their lack of trust in the choice of people and have made a mockery of the election process. "I have received media reports about violence and terror by BJP in all municipalities and Nagar Panchayats of which I would not comment ;what I myself have seen at Agartala is enough to educate me about the nature of politics and dirty tricks pursued by BJP; this was no election but this was an all-round farce" said Shreyasi dejectedly. Condemning what happened today in the name of elections Shreyasi said that her party will discuss the issue threadbare and try to launch protest programmes in association with other opposition parities.
