Sudip Roy Barman casts vote in Acharya Prafulla Chandra School, rebukes police officer for impertinent query

Amidst the all around fear of trouble and attacks from the ruling party  in almost all wards of AMC , the dissident BJP MLA and former health minister Sudip Roy Barman today prowled all over the wards in his assembly constituency. In the morning Sudip had gone to his polling booth in Acharya Prafulla Chandra higher secondary school on way to the GBP hospital. He had duly cast his vote and was coming out when the deputy chief minister Jishnu Debbarma entered the premise of the polling booth. As Sudip proceeded after exchanging smiles a police officer, supposedly the officer in charge of NCC police station , asked him why he had come and whether it was his polling booth .

Stung by the impertinent query Sudip shot back asking the police officer to keep sitting, wearing bangles and rebuked him for inaction and dereliction of duty. This done, Sudip stalked out of the polling booth premise and went to see voting in all the booths under his constituency. The dissident MLA Asish Saha also briefly visited the wards under his constituency before retiring home. Speaking to waiting media persons Sudip said it was obvious how the voting was happening and the consequences, predicting protests from deprived voters across the state.

Meanwhile, the CPI (M) and Trinamool today separately staged prolonged demonstrations in front of the West and East Agartala police station protesting against what they alleged the mockery of polls enacted by the mafia and anti-social elements of BJP. After an hourlong slogan shouting the CPI (M) supporters and leaders went back but a large number of Trinamool workers including the state steering committee convener Subal Bhowmik were arrested and sent to detention centre. Protests by the opposition parties also took place in other parts of the state.
