Spate of unnatural deaths and suicides show no sign of stopping, panic all pervasive in state

In a horrendous tragedy Priti Das, wife of self-killed Rajiv Das of Manikya Nagar area under Boxanagar police station in Sonamura subdivision breathed her last last night in GBP hospital within a year of their marriage. Pregnant Priti's child in her womb had died a shortly after she had consumed poison on Saturday night. Police sources said that Priti Das had been married to Rajiv Paul less than a year ago after a brief love-affair. Having borrowed large amounts of money from different people Rajiv was under mental pressure for repayment and confided everything to his wife . The couple decided to end their lives and consumed poison together on Friday even though Priti was eight months pregnant. Their family members and relatives had shifted both of them to Boxanagar hospital and then to GBP hospital but Rajiv died on Friday night , leaving behind his pregnant wife Priti who finally succumbed on Saturday night. The twin suicides caused by financial woes have cast a deep shadow of grief and mourning in Manikya Nagar area of Boxanagar.

Apart from this, two more suicides have been reported from Kalyanpur police station area of Khowai subdivision , creating fresh panic in the area. Police sources said that on Saturday night Rasik Lal Sarkar (60), a resident of Dakshin Chhankhola village had hanged himself to death , leaving behind his lone wife at home. Rasik Lal's son works outside the state and he was in depression over something he never confided to anybody. Besides, in Dachhura area under Kalyanpur police station a youth Niresh Barma also committed suicide on Saturday by poisoning himself . Sources said that Niresh had recently married and  apparently there was no reason for his suicide. 

In yet another pathetic incident in Ashabari panchayat under Boxanagar police station in Sonamura subdivision , a motor-bike mechanic Dipankar Das (19) committed suicide yesterday for unknown reasons, plunging his family to unbearable grief. Police sources said that Dipankar's father works in Quayt and he was living with his mother and younger brother in their ancestral home at Ashababari. Studying up to class IX Dipankar had started work as a motor bike mechanic and had developed a love affair with a girl named Puja whose identity was recovered from Dipankar's mobile. Apparently withut any reason Dipankar hanged himself to death yesterday in the afternoon at a time when his mother and younger brother were absent from home. His hanging dead body was seen by his younger brother Rupankar  (15), a student of class IX in Rahimpur school. Even though his mother and brother were disconsolate over the death of Dipankar , the police finally took the body away to Sonamura hospital for post-mortem. 

In yet another tragedy, a teen-aged lover Kufumoni Tripura (17) committed suicide after his beloved , a minor girl of remote Ratan Nagar village under Raisyabari police station of Gandacherra subdivision , had committed suicide on last Wednesday. Kufumoni who had consumed poison breathed his last in GBP hospital yesterday. Police sources said that Kufumoni had been in love with a minor girl of his own age in Ratan Nagar village but the girl's parents and guardians forced her stop interacting with Kufumoni. Out of depression the girl hanged herself to death on last Tuesday. After coming to know of this teen-aged Kufumoni became mad with grief and cried profusely in his home. Finally on Wednesday night Kufumoni consumed deadly pesticide and was on the verge of death. His parents and guardians brought him to Gandacherra hospital and then to GBP hospital where Kufumoni breathed his last.The twin suicides have created a grief stricken sensation in the entire Raisyabari police station area. Besides , in yet another tragedy Jackie Tripura, six yearold son of Dashamjay Tripura of Chhawmanu, died yesterday while being brought to GBP hospital , Agartala.  Jackie had been suffering from pain in the abdomen and had trouble in urinary tract as a result of which he used to take 15-16 minutes to clear is unrine . He fell seriously ill yesterday and was brought to Kuali hospital only to be referred to GBP hospital but on the way to GBP hospital , Agartala little Jackie breathed his last, plunging his parents and family members in deep grief and exposing the chinks in the health service system of the state.
