Re-breathing oxygen masks given to isolation ward, oxygen reservoir to come up in GB, Pratima

Agartala, September 16, 2020: In order to improve the healthcare facilities especially for Covid care, the state’s Health department has installed 10 more ventilators in GB Hospital under PM Care fund.

Giving details of the measures taken to improve the health services inside GB Hospital complex and to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection, MP  Pratima Bhowmik, who is the chairman of Rogi Kalyan Samity (RKS) of GB Hospital said that altogether 175 Re-Breathing Oxygen masks and 100 multi-vent masks has been handed over to the authorities of GB Hospital for better oxygen supply to patients admitted in the isolation ward.

She said that 25 more Re-breathing oxygen masks have also been given to Ambulance services for transportation of serious patients up to GB Hospital and gradually all district, subdivisional and PHEs would be equipped with Re-breathing oxygen masks.

As Ms. Bhowmik visiting the GB Hospital complex everyday  to monitor all patient related issues along with ensuring better health services to the people of the state, said that measures has already been taken to improve the healthcare services in nursing homes and private hospital of the state. She said that the private hospital ILS has sought the help of state government to installed few ventilators in their hospital complex and as per request of them, necessary steps were taken.

Highlighting the vital measures taken inside GB Hospital complex as per advises of the Central medical team, who are now visiting different parts of the state for overall improve of the Covid care, she said that within next two days 60 more ICU beds to be equipped in the isolation ward and two separate rooms were also prepared for the patients under Gynecology department.

For overall dedicated Covid treatment in Gynecology ward, a separate Ultra-Sound machine has been installed to render emergency sonography for mother care. She also said that soon a portable X-Ray machine would be given to this ward.

The public address system (PA system), EPBX systems have already been start functioning in Isolation ward for better communication with patients with their relatives, said Bhowmik.

Bhowmik reiterated that necessary oxygen pressure in NTH-one and two blocks are running in perfect condition and for setting up an oxygen reservoir in the hospital complex, one state company has been empanelled. Now, the hospital has a total of 300 oxygen concentrator and soon oxygen reservoir will start functioning.

As per the suggestions of medical-super (GB) , Ms. Bhowmik also said that eight more MD doctors will join in the services in the GB Hospital from other parts of the state and now government has decided to take services of 130 PG students with 75 intern nurses to fill up the shortages of healthcare staffs.

As per advises of the central medical team, we are moving step by step for overall better treatment facilities, said Bhowmik and appealed to the people of the state not to confuse and all essential medical facilities are available inside GB Hospital complex to save the lives of Covid infected people.
