Public slaughter of animals, 4 villigers wounded in BSF attack at Sonamura border, peace meeting today

Matinagar border area of Sonamura is in the throes of a fierce clash between BSF and villagers over public killing of animals. The incident took place around 8.30 am on Sunday in Fakira Dola area of Chandra Nagar, North Navadwip under Sonamura police station. Four people on both sides were  injured. The BSF fired in the air to control the situation and in self-defense. The Sonamura-Boxnagar road was blocked for a long time. Some people are trying to heat up the situation by adding political color to this incident. A peace meeting will be held today with the intervention of the administration to control the situation.
According to police sources, some people publicly slaughtered animals yesterday morning near BSF BOP in Chandra Nagar Fakira Dola area of Navadwip in Sonamura. The situation deteriorated when some BSF jawans came from BOP to check the situation. The argument starts from there. Later more soldiers came and attacked the villagers. Babul Mia (50), Matiur Rahman alias Mantu Mia (55), Anwara Khatun and some other villagers and BSF jawans were injured in the clash.
The agitated villagers have been blocking the Sonamura-Boxnagar road for a long time, accusing them of obstructing the slaughter of cattle, beating and injuring innocent villagers, vandalizing people's houses and demanding justice. They laid siege to NC Nagar BOPO. Matinagar BOP Company Commander Sunil Kumar was coming to NC Nagar BOP after getting news of the situation. He was also allegedly beaten after seizing the car.
Meanwhile, the villagers alleged that the BSF was forcibly taking a villager to BOP for the crime of slaughtering cattle. Even before that, the jawans took some people to BOP and beat them without any crime. So the locals prevented BSF fir taking him to BOP. After leaving him, the jawans started beating the locals and vandalized the house. In protest of BSF atrocities, villagers  were forced to block the road to seek justice for the incident.
