The apathetic inertia and dereliction of duty on the part of state police has reached a stage when as serious a complaint as the kidnapping of a minor girl fail to move them . It was on January 17 that Meher Kabir (16), a minor student of class X and daughter of Jaidul Hossain in Aralia villag panchayat under Charilam RD block, had gone to her private tutor's house . On her way back the minor Meher Kabir was kidnapped by a miscreant called Rafiq Islam of Kamthana area of Bishalgarh subdivision.
Meher's parents spent four days looking for her here and there going without food and drinks . The went to file a complaint with Bishalgarh womens police station but were not entertained as the officer on duty dismissed them saying that the abduction might have been the result of a love affair. As the family felt helpless and sat at home this morning around 4-00 AM the mobile phone of Jaidul rang and Meher asked him to stop approaching police and withdraw the FIR otherwise she would be killed and then the mobile switched off. Meher’s brother put on the 'true caller' and learned that the call had been made from Nagpur in Maharashtra and there was sound of train when the call was on.
Out of sheer helplessness caused by deliberate non co-operation of police Jaidul and his family have now decided to meet the chief minister and has also made an appeal to him to take suitable action to rescue the girl . But the incompetent and mischievous police of Bishalgarh remain unmoved. (Tripurainfo)
