Madhyamik results declared, improved pass percentage at 69.49 %, 24 students in top ten merit positions

Agartala, July 3, 2020: Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Friday morning declared Madhyamik results, with pass percentage of 69.49 %, that was 64.60 % in last year.

Addressing a press conference here at Board office, TBSE’s president Dr Bhabatosh Saha said that due to Covid-19 pandemic board had to defer different examinations of Madhyamik and Higher Secondary (HS+2) scheduled after March 23rd last and altogether 48, 994 candidates had appeared in the examinations from 1052 schools across eight districts of the state with increase of 5.41 % in comparison to candidates of last year. Dr Saha said that this year board had set up 76 examination centres with 158 examination venues.

Announcing the top ten merit rank holders names the TBSE president said that this year board has declared names of 24 students , who  managed to secure top ten positions jointly and among them  Dipayan Debnath of Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan of Agartala got the top position with 488 marks.

Among the appeared candidates, a total of 39,729 candidates appeared under 'regular' category and among them 27,609 candidates secured pass marks, which grossed pass percentage of 69.49 %.

Dr Saha said that due to Covid-19 pandemic board has adopted special measures for evaluation of answer scripts, which started on April 24 and evaluation of scripts ended on May 22 last. Like previous years, this year too Gomati district secured top position among all districts by scoring highest percentage of pass marks and second and third position were secured by South and West Tripura districts respectively. But, the Dhalai got least percentage in pass marks.

This year out of 1052 schools, altogether 80 schools secured cent percent mass marks,  while only five schools got 100 percent failure, which was 34 schools in last year's examinations.

Dr Saha also said that altogether 36 specially abled students appeared in the examinations including 9 candidates under "Blind" category and only one student failed. Board also expelled one candidate during examinations and one student was categorized as ‘reported against’.

He said that this year no student from correctional homes appeared in the Madhyamik examinations. The TBSE authority also requested all parents to submit their wards’ review application till July 8th in their respective schools.
