MP Pratima Bhowmik demands inclusion of Tripura in Assam and West Bengal multi-crore package to revive tea industry

Agartala, Feb 02, 2021: MP Pratima Bhowmik has demanded the inclusion of Tripura in the Rs 1,000 crore special packages provided in the Union Budget for West Bengal and Assam to revive the tea industry.
Mrs. Bhowmik, Tripura MP from Delhi, has released a letter to her in the local media. In it, he said, it is a good thing that special funds have been earmarked in the central budget for the tea industry in Assam and West Bengal. But even in Tripura, more than 15,000 people are involved in the tea industry. There are 48 public and private gardens in the state. Most of these women laborers’ were working. She therefore demanded a special package to improve the socio-economic status of tea workers in Tripura too.
It has been reported that Mrs. Bhowmik could not meet the Union Finance Minister today even after trying. However, he met the Union Home Minister and handed him a letter. And the Union Home Minister has promised to take the Tripura tea gardens revival issue seriously.
