Jiten holds prime minister's rally on January 4 in Swami Vibekananda ground responsible for super-spread of Covid

The CPI (M) state secretary and central committee member Jiten Chowdhury has held the mass rally addressed by prime minister Narendra Modi in the local Swami Vibekananda ground responsible for the super spread of Covid . "This is evident from the abnormally high infections of Covid all over the state from the day of the prime minister's meeting on January 4 ; since the third round of Covid had struck the country before that , the rally could be held virtually but the state government and the ruling party had forced people to attend the meeting in large numbers" said Jiten.

He also described as 'disappointing' the chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb's announcement of Covid protocol on January 12. "His announcement exposed the lackadaisical approach of the state government to the critical issue of Covid outbreak in its Omicron variant ; the people of the state expected  a more serious approach to the issue from the state government and the chief minister but the hopes were belied" said Jiten.

He castigated the state government's failure to tone up the health department and infrastructure in the state and said that in the event of fatalities growing rapidly the health service will collapse. Jiten lashed out at the state government for failure to give Ra 10 lakh each to families that had lost members to Covid attacks . "It is a glaring and brazen violation of promises made earlier" said Jiten. He demanded immediate recruitment of young doctors and nurses for making the 'tattered' health service in the state fit for providing service to people during the current Covid crisis.
