Agartala, Mar. 26: To stop rumour mills during the lockdown curfew from March 24 to 31, the District Magistrates (DMs) and Superintendent of Police (SPs) were asked to keep close eye on the social media platform- Facebook and Whatsapp and take steps if something objections are floated.

In an official message, DIG (Crime Branch) GK Rao has categorically said that District Cyber Cells could take action if any rumour is floated on the FB and Whatsapp. If the situation requires, it can take help from Cyber Cells of police to remove the content.

In the message, it was also sought compliance of the guideline and this has been issued following instruction from the Director General of Police (DGP).

So far, no such thing came to the knowledge of the district administration or cyber cells but strict monitoring is being maintained to keep the trouble shooters at bay.
