Corona monitoring and awareness committees to stress on strict maintenance of home quarantine

Agartala, May 23, 2020: Although, Tripura has the highest recovery rate in the country with maximum tests for COVID-19 in per million of population, the Corona monitoring and awareness committee of the West Tripura district held detailed discussion for compliance of strict maintenance of 14 days compulsory home quarantine for the people for who were arrived from other parts of the country.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19(Coronavirus), the district committee headed by Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath , few MLAs, DM, SP, chief medical officer (CMO) along with other concern officials of the district held detailed discussion on Friday and stressed on more awareness among the general public to prevent the spread of COVID-19

After review meeting, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath  said that as per decision taken by the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, the monitoring and awareness committees has been constituted across the state up to Gram Panchayat level.

Corona monitoring and awareness committees were set up at the village level in the state to make sure no one should violate quarantine norms, said Nath adding that so far about 4500 people of the state have returned in the state, who were stranded in different parts of the country. Among few persons were also tested positive with COVID-19.

Government working on to contain the spread of infection and for that , the people who are shifted in home quarantine should strictly maintain the rules, said Nath adding that all committees including the Panchayat level committees should ensure the observation of compulsory 14 days home quarantine.

The members of the committees were also asked to contact with all persons, who are in "home quarantine"  to ensure the maintenance of rules and if they suffer any problem, then government authorities will resolve their problems.

We cannot prevent out own citizen to return their home, but simultaneously we have to contain the spread of the virus, said Nath adding that government has taken various initiatives to aware the people for maintaining all rules to prevent COVID-19.

Though, Tripura are now conducting maximum number of tests in comparison to other states of the country and highest recovery rate in the country, but the committees have also taken few other steps to prevent further spread of the virus.

During the review meeting, DM (West) Dr Sandeep Mahatme said that committee has emphasized on maximum community awareness with engagement of societies to contain the community transmission of the virus. He added that West Tripura district so far have above institutional quarantine facilities for above 2000 people and at 577 people are in home quarantine in the district.
