City bus services starts for two routes of Agartala

Agartala, August 14, 2019: The Transport department of Tripura has resumed the city bus services across Agartala after many years to resolve the regular transportation problems of city dwellers.

As committed earlier by the state government for introduction of city bus services in Agartala, the Transport department in association with TRTC on Tuesday introduced the bus services in two city routes of Agartala with 16 buses.

Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy flagged offing the services from ISBT Chandrapur terminus along with other officials of Transport department.

Speaking in the flagged off programme, Transport Minister  said that gradually city bus services will begin in all six routes of the city with eight buses in each route.

The city bus services will remain in services from morning 6.30 AM to 9.30 PM in the night and with the services of the city bus, the long pending miseries of the city people has also come to end.

He also said that flight services in Tripura has running in normal schedules and shortages of flights are decreased compared to its previous positions. From Wednesday direct flight services from Agartala to New Delhi will start said Singha Roy adding that they are hoping the new terminal building of Agartala airport will start its functioning from December next. The Transport department is also very hopeful for introduction of Dhaka-Agartala flight services from new terminal building.

Speaking with media persons, chairman of Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC) , Dipak Majumder said that with the initiatives of TRTC, the dreams of Agartala residents are going to fulfill as on Tuesday TRTC has introduce the ‘City bus services’ for two routes.

The service on Tuesday started at Road number-1 from Battala to Ranir Bazar and Road number-3 for  GB to Tripura university. A together 16 buses will ply in these routes and phase wise before ensuing festivities of Durga Puja the city bus services will resume for entire city.

 Majumder hoped that within September next, the city bus services will start again in rest of the routes.

He added that minimum fare as fixed at Rs. 7 and it will increase as per the journey of kilometer. He sought the cooperation of all city dwellers as after span of many years, the city services again started in Agartala.

During the flagged off ceremony, principal secretary of Transport department L H Darlong and other top officials of TRTC were present in the programme.
