Chief Minister laid the foundation for pork processing plan with an aim to export

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb laid the foundation stone of a Pork Processing Plant at Karaicherra in Patcherthal under North Tripura District and hoped that Tripura will soon become a Pork exporting state. He said the pork produced in Tripura is of high quality and have good demand in other Indian States and abroad.

Rs 4.84 crore will be invested to set up the plant which will reach into production stage by the next two years. According to the plan after processing and packaging the porks will be exported in various states and abroad. Chief Minister said it will create employment opportunities for many and the state also will get god revenue from this project.

Talking about the bright prospect of trade on pork, he said a recent study revealed that a total of 2.36 lakh families in the state are rearing pigs but not getting remunerative prices all the time. This problem will be solved with the new project comes into being. He said the new project has created enthusiasm among the pig rears and farms have been established for producing piglets.
