Agartala, October 17, 2020: Considering the large gathering of people in markers before ensuing festivities, opposition CPI (M) demanded massive awareness from government to contain the further spread of Coronavirus during festivals.

A four members delegation of CPI(M) led by party's West Tripura district committee president and former MLA Pabitra Kar submitted a memorandum before the newly appointed Principal Secretary for Health department , J K Sinha and demanded improvement of health services in state’s three referral hospitals including GB, IGM and TMC.

Speaking with media persons here at party's West district committee office on Friday evening, Pabitra Kar alleged that due to irresponsible attitude of the state government, the common people of the state have lost their faith in health services, especially in GB Hospital.

Criticizing the state government, Kar said that most of the sophisticated diagnosis machines are remained non-functioning and apart from Covid-19 patients, the general patients are being deprived from their health rights.

Most of the hospital are running with huge shortages of health staff including doctors, nurses and other para-medics,  but the state government are not taken any single step to fill up all vacant posts, said Kar adding that instead of filling all vacant posts, the state government is recruiting healthcare staff on contract basis. But, unfortunately, the frontline warriors who are rendering their services to protect the lives of common people are not getting their legitimate salaries, alleged Kar.

Kar alleged that earlier state government announced to provide financial support to all home isolation Covid-19 patients and a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh to each victim family, who were died due to Covid-19 infection, but in reality, none of the home isolation patients or the members of victim family get any financial support from the state government.

They sought immediate steps on their demands to improve the overall health services of the state and to restore the lost faith of the common people of the health services. CPI(M) also demanded for proper step from administration during Puja days to contain the spread of infection and strict maintenance of all Covid guidelines framed by the government.

Kar also said that Health principal secretary assured the delegation that all possible steps would be taken to improve the healthcare services of the state.    (Tripurainfo)
