In a determined and tutored bid to divert attention , a large group of unruly BJP supporters this morning encircled the CPI (M) divisional committee office at Badharghat near TMC bypass. More than forty CPI (M) workers are under siege in the office where they had gathered in the morning to observe the centenary foundation day of the party which had been launched on this day in 1920 at Tashkhent . Among the workers and leaders held hostage are former MLA and party secretariat's invitee member Subrata Chakraborty and divisional secretary  Narayan Deb and others.

Sources in the CPI (M) said that police had been informed by telephone and mobile from within the party office but till latest reports came in no police force has gone there to rescue the party leaders and workers from the sieged office.
