The chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb who went on a whirlwind campaign in the run-up to the West Bengal assembly election today invited journalists of the state to come and visit Tripura to see for themselves the kind of development work being executed here. "You are most welcome to my state , you can ask any rickshaw puller, autorickshaw driver and small traders whether we are doing the right thing or not " Biplab told a group of journalists waiting to note down his comment.
He also said that when the left front had lost power in 2018 the state's per capita income was only Rs 1.4 lakh while now it is 1.23 lakhs of rupees whereas the same in West Bengal is Rs 1.15 lakhs. "It shows what we are doing on what plan, besides, the law and order situation in Tripura is far better than what it is in West Bengal ; democracy has come an end in West Bengal under the Trinamool regime but it is not so in Tripura" said Biplab. He asserted that the ongoing farmers movement in Punjab and parts of Western UP has so no effect in Tripura because most of the farmers in Tripura are small and marginal ones who have no stake in the so-callled movement of 'Kulaks', 'Bicholis' and middlemen. "We help our farmers in every possible way by purchasing rice with minimum support price and by providing them inputs as and when required , there is no corrupt APMC in our state" said Biplab.
As part of his programme Biplab today took part in road-shows named as ‘Parivartan Yatra’ at Habra, Barrasat, Madhyamgram, Amdanga etc. In the late afternoon he also addressed a rally strongly refuted allegations made by Trinamool against Tripura. “They are welcome to visit Tripura, I will help them in their visits and only then they will realize what is happening in Tripura in all round spheres of development including infrastructure building” said Biplab.
