ATM hacker case: One ADC employee arrested, six under-trial prisoners brought in police custody

Agartala, July 21, 2021: The investigation over the escaping of under-trial prisoner and international ATM hacker Hakan Zanburkan turned a new twist as police has arrested an ADC employee and bring six other associates of Hakan for five days police custody from Central jail.

Police sources said that along with two prime accused and associated of Hakan Zanburkan, who arrested from Manu Bazar and from Agartala, another associate  of international ATM hacker ,a government employee of Autonomous District Council (ADC) identified as Renu Kumar Debbarma  and a surrendered extremist of bordering Manicherra village under Khowai subdivision was also arrested for his direct connection with runaway case.

Police on Tuesday has also brought six co-accused of ATM hacking case and his fellow prisoners, who are under jail custody since November, 2020 were also brought in police remand in NCC  and Amtali police stations for interrogation.

Among six under-tribal prisoners, two are citizens of Bangladesh and one more citizen of Turkey were interrogated by top officials of police inside the lockups of two separate police stations s.

Police sources said that arrested ADC employee had helped Hakan to cross the India-Bangladesh border from Khowai side.

Sources added that Hakan managed to contact Sakib Tripura (23), who was arrested on from Chota Sakibbari village under Manu Bazar police station through a smart mobile and got his number from his relative, who was also lodged in the central jail.

Police also suspected the involvement of an advocate and a court clerk besides few other persons of the state, who had allegedly arrange money  to provide financial support to arrested associates of Hakan for helping him to escape.

Earlier, the state police had issued a look out’ notice and urged the Interpol authorities in Bangladesh to take all possible steps to launch a search operation to detain the escaped hacker.

While, after arrest of three associates of escaped under trial international prisoner Hakan Zanburkan and six fellow under-trial prisoners, police has got some  startling revelation over the entire racket, who were allegedly helped Hakan to cross the international boundary.

Earlier, based on the interrogation statements of two arrested associates Sakib Tripura (23) and Sukhen Bhowmik (42), on Sunday the investigation team has detained a guest house owner from GB Bazar area, who was later released. Based on the statements of arrested associates, police has also managed to arrest Renu Kumar Debbarma from Khowai.

Police sources said that along with arrested associates, a racket had arranged the entire escaping attempt to provide a safe corridor to Hakan.

Earlier, on July 12, police has suspended a constable Subrata Debbarma in connection with the escape of under trial prisoner Hakan Zanburkan, who was posted in duty as security guard in the GB Hospital.

Top police sources said that they have intensified search operation across the state to nab other associates of Hakan Zanburkan, who are involved with the escaping racket.
