The prolonged dispute over the illegal construction of a building on government land used as play-field by children of Saroj Sangha area in Jagahari mura now shows signs of solution with the Agartala Municipal Council (AMC) authority taking a tough stand. In early December a gang of mafia elements allegedly owing allegiance to ruling BJP illegally occupied a large plot of government land used as play-field by small children of the renowned football club Saroj Sangha area in Jagahari muara. Despite protests from local people the mafia elements started constructing a building to  be used as a marriage house from early December . The issue snowballed as the local people filed a written complaint bearing mass signatures to the AMC authority as well as the DM (west) informing them of encroachment on government land and attempt to construct an illegal building .

Since initial inquiries into the allegation started soon the leading local citizens, all alleged supporters of  the BJP had called a meeting to sort out the issue in favour of the mafia elements but the local people protested and there were scuffles which to injuries to some local people . A number of complaints in this regard were filed with the East Agartala police station . As tension simmered a group of AMC officials led by Siddhartha Shib Jaiswal visited the spot yesterday in the afternoon and inspected the play-field and illegal construction, matching all records with reality of the ground.

Being convinced of the illegal encroachment the Jaiswal sternly warned the mafia elements to demolish the illegal construction within a week or else the task force of the AMC will reach the spot and themselves demolish the illegally raised structure. The local people agitating for restoration of the play-field from illegal occupation heaved a sigh of relief and are now hoping that the children of the area will get back their right to again play and spend time on the large field.
