38th Agartala book fair inaugurated at Hapania fair ground by chief minister

Agartala February 26 ,2020 : Setting at rest all fears and apprehensions the 38th edition of Agartala Book Fair was inaugurated this evening in the international fair ground in Hapania area on the southern outskirts of Agartala. There was fear that location of the book fair in Hapania would flop due to anticipated absence of people . But as it turned out , large crowd including 129 publishers and book sellers had opened stalls in the fair with enthusiasm and gaiety. 

The chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, deputy chief minister Jishnu Debbarma, revenue minister Narendra Chandra Debbarma , education minister Ratan Lal Nath, MLAs Mimi Majumder and Ramprasad Paul attended the inaugural programme. Having inaugurated the programme through ceremonial lighting of lamp , the chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb expressed his satisfaction over the successful opening of the book fair in the presence of a large number of people including publishers and book sellers. 'Fear was expressed that the location of the book fair at Hapania would lead to sharp fall in presence of people but this has not happened ; all programmes can not be accommodated in towns as it needs to be expanded; now it is clear that we took the right decision’ said Biplab. 

He emphasized his government's constant efforts to ensure development of all sections of people in the state and asserted  in a dig at opposition CPI (M) that those who kept the state backward in their sectarian political interest always indulge in fear mongering but they will never succeed. "Today's India is new India and today's Tripura is new Tripura ; my predecessors in  power never made any recommendation for anybody to secure 'Padma' awards and many deserving people in the state remained deprived ; we however did the reverse by ensuing that truly deserving people obtain recognition of their talent ; that is why Tanga Darlong and Beniprasad Jamaty have been conferred 'Padmasri' awards" said Biplab. He also promised that Tripura would be socio-economically transfored soon with constant efforts being made in this direction. Biplab wished the 38th Agartala book fair a grand success and promised to help people visiting the fair as well as book sellers and customers. "Besides the arrangement for buses made from three locations in the town we will extend all help whenever necessary to make sure that the fair till March 8 achieves a grand success" said Biplab before winding  up.
