The 10,323 retrenched teachers have decided to organise a rally in front of Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan on February to protest their forced ouster from the sit-in site in front of City Centre on January 27 morning. The Joint Movement Committee (JMC) spearheading the movement of retrenched teachers for jobs held a meeting yesterday in the conference hall of TRTC and spoke to media to announce their programme.
The two leaders of JMC Daliya Das and Bijay Krishna Saha told media persons that they will organise the protest demonstration on 15th February afternoon to press for three specific demands : appointment of the retrenched teachers in posts of teachers, one job each to all families who have lost earning members and unconditional withdrawal of all cases slapped against the teachers who agitated for jobs through sit-in demonstration . They also sought co-operation from members of the public and the entire teaching community of the state in their struggle for jobs . Daliya and Bijay also made it clear that while their cases will remain in the high courts they will stick to their programme of mass agitation.
