Sujok Therapy: The Drugless way to good health

Sujok Therapy was invented by a Korean Professor late Park
Jae Woo a few decades ago. It is a drugless method of treatment and is a mixture
of Acupuncture and other healing methods. Sujok is made of two words Su (Hand) and
Jok (Feet). Sujok is thus a method of treatment based on the principle that all
parts of the body have a positional link in our palm and feet and it thus focuses
only on treating the hands and feet. After successfully treating many chronic
diseases in his country Prof Park chose India to propagate his therapy and
established Sujok Association of India in Nagpur. He groomed and trained a few
physiotherapists and other interested people and kept on visiting India to popularise
this drugless treatment. Sujok in recent years has become very popular in some
parts of India among the people suffering from chronic diseases liked Axonal
Neuropathy and cerebral palsy and especially the poor people who cannot afford
costly treatment in big hospitals. It is becoming very popular because it is
very effective natural therapy, is safe and is without medicine. It is very
cheap and gives instant relief. I had a personal experience of instant relief
when in April 2019 I had a slip disc and sciatic nerve pain in a conference in
Dehradun. Mr Minchul Park Son of Professor Park who was sitting beside me on
the dais gave me Sujok therapy on my fingers for 15 minutes and I got instant
relief in pain and then was able to travel to Delhi the same day by road.
The Sujok treatment is carried out by using
various Instruments like very small needles and magnets specially defined and
made with expert precision to carry out specialized specific treatment in the
hands and feet. Sujok needles are made of steel suitable for medical use in
humans. The needles have spring like handle on one side and are perfectly
shaped for painless insertion by needle inserters. The therapy also uses the energy in lentil
seeds and colour therapy. One of the most effective ways to massage the points
of the body part where the treatment is needed is done by a diagnostic &
therapeutic stick after identifying the exact points and then treating those
points by massaging.
Magnets are the most important tools in the
armoury of Sujok healer. They are used to channelize the flow of energy in the
identified body part. Yet another way of treatment is the application of
elastic ring messenger as useful and hand way to provide continuous pressure on
the identified point.
As for the efficacy of the treatment the Sujok
practiceners give a long list of diseases which can be cured by them like Arthritis, Bronchitis, Asthma, Cervical,
Spondylitis, Backache, Joints pain, Migraine, Hypertension, Sinusitis,
Deafness, Paralysis, Constipation, Acidity, Obesity, Diabetes, Blood-Pressure,
Menstrual Problems and many more diseases related to different organs of our
body. However,
I after discussing with a few patients cured by the head of the Dehradun Centre
have found that it is very successful in all muscle and nerve related diseases.
In one particular case one senior retired veterinary surgeon who was admitted
first in a medical college of Dehradun and later was treated by All India
Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi for almost eight months for Axonal Neuropathy and was put through 84
tests and all tests are documented had ultimately out of frustration contacted
the Sujok Smile Centre Dehradun and was cured by Dr Subhash Chaudhury head of
Sujok in Uttarakhand in ninety days. Today he is fit and fine and his nerve
conduction value had reached 56% in medical terms from 14 %. Similarly two
Cerebral palsy children have returned home after fully recovering.
Today in a big and poor country like India with huge
population, providing affordable health care system to all people is still a
very big challenge for the government and the society. In the recent covid-19
pandemic the Ayurvedic and traditional systems of medicines have proved their
efficacy in bolstering the immune system. In chronic diseases where the Sujok
therapy has achieved excellent results beyond doubt, it needs to be subsumed in
the holistic medical treatment procedure which we need to evolve to provide
health care to our population. The health Minister Dr Harshvardhan
who is a celebrated Doctor himself needs to evolve an integrated health care policy
for certain identified diseases where a combination of all form of medical
therapies can be applied to cure the ailments. Sujok therapy provides the
government an excellent way to treat some untreatable diseases and for this to
judge the efficacy the AIIMS Delhi along with other institutions must conduct
some studies and standardize the protocols for identified diseases. For such
identified diseases the Sujok therapy must be officially recognized.
However, one of the tasks cut out for the Sujok
leaders in Korea particularly Dr Minchul Park Son of Prof Park and who heads
the Sujok international foundation now is to rid the Sujok India Association
from a coterie of selfish people in Nagpur who are not supporting the young
entrepreneurs to spread out on account of their vested interests.
Notwithstanding this negative streak however, one lady practiceners in Dehradun
Dr Subhash Chaudhury is drawing huge patients and keeping the new drugless
therapy in high pedestal and treating the poor people free. Hope Sujok will
soon become a talk of the every town.
