Like other literature and fiction the ghost literature is gaining very popularity now days. It involves the spirits and the supernatural powers. In most of the ghost stories or paranormal stories is related to magic which related to the witch crafts and the black and white magic. The history of the ghost stories are widespread belief concerning ghosts is that they are composed of a misty, airy, or subtle material. Anthropologists link this idea to early beliefs that ghosts were the person within the person (the person's spirit), most noticeable in ancient cultures as a person's breath, which upon exhaling in colder climates appears visibly as a white mist. Belief in ghosts is found in all cultures around the world, and thus ghost stories may be passed down orally or in written form.

The campfire story, a form of oral storytelling, often involves recounting ghost stories, or other scary stories. Some of the stories are decades old, with varying versions across multiple cultures. Many schools and educational institutions encourage ghost storytelling as part of literature.  In the mid-16th century, in the mid-16th century, the works of Seneca were rediscovered by Italian humanists, and they became the models for the revival of tragedy. Seneca's influence is particularly evident in Thomas Kyd'The Spanish Tragedy and Shakespeare'Hamlet, both of which share a revenge theme, a corpse-strewn climax, and ghosts among the cast. Reading paranormal or ghost stories has also been very much popular among the teenagers.

The classic ghost stories have been aroused during the Victorian period and included authors such as M. R. JamesSheridan Le FanuViolet Hunt, and Henry James. Classic ghost stories were influenced by the gothic fiction tradition, and contain elements of folklore and psychology. Various types of folklores have also been developed by the use of ghost stories; mainly the ghosts have been a very important part of the Bengali folktales and fictions. The ghost stories mainly focus on the idea of "haunting", where a supernatural entity is tied to a place, object or person. Ghost stories are commonly examples of ghost lore.

If we focus on the word haunting we can come close to any haunting house, village, schools or any places as there are many haunted places in the north east India. Such as a special place in, Jatinga village in Assam, India where the birds commit suicide is a well-populated village in the Dima Hasao district. But this village experiences something unique and eerie of course. The village is in fact known worldwide as the place where the bird suicides happen on moonless nights. The phenomenon happens at the end of monsoon, when the night is dark with some bit of fog. Taking place between 6 pm to 9 pm, the bird suicides are an unknown and unexplained event. The birds simply fall from the sky unexpectedly, shaking the bones of even the bravest of men. Numerous scientists and naturalists have attempted to solve the puzzle, but none have been successful in providing with the right answer, but, it has been believed by the villagers that the cause of the birds suicide it is believed that three woman put to death they were suspected to witchcraft, sorcery and black magic and the spirits of the three are killing the birds and keeping the village haunted.

There are also many books in which we find the concepts based on Satan the books are written on the basis of the religion of Satanism or the Church of Satan. The Satanic Bible is a collection of essays, observations, and rituals published by Anton LaVey in 1969. It is the central religious text of LaVeyan Satanism, and is considered the foundation of its philosophy and dogma. This people follow the religion of Satan or the devil. The Church of Satan is a religious organization dedicated to Satanism as codified in The Satanic Bible. The Church of Satan was established at the Black House in San FranciscoCalifornia, on Walpurgisnacht, April 30, 1966, by Anton Szandor LaVey, who was the Church's High Priest until his death in 1997. The Church maintains a purist approach to Satanism as expounded by LaVey rejecting the legitimacy of any other organizations who claim to be Satanists. Scholars agree that there is no reliably documented case of Satanic continuity prior to the founding of the Church of Satan.

Paranormal literature and fiction are also gaining very much popularity in the T.V shows and movies many haunted shows are to be shown in the television worldwide. Many movies are being made from fiction.  Many paranormal institutes have been set up in different parts of the world.

However all of this is based on fiction, fairy tales, folklores and short stories as a source of entertainment.
