In the distant past, I had the privilege of leading the Civil Defence Service in West Tripura district, where I witnessed unwavering dedication and bravery. These selfless guardians stood as the first line of defense against nature's fury, risking everything to rescue those in peril.Their fearlessness was a sight to behold – like lions charging into the unknown, undaunted by danger. I watched in awe as they battled raging floods, saved stranded villagers, and provided comfort to the afflicted.But their heroism wasn't limited to disaster response only. Where there is calamity they are there.
Despite drawing a very modest salary, they generously donated to the calamity relief fund constituted for the worst possible flood that ravaged Tripura recently and presented a heartfelt cheque to Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. This poignant gesture echoed the legendary selflessness of Bidur, who offered his humble alms to Lord Krishna.Their courage, conviction, and humility left an indelible mark on my heart.
