All Tripura Mega Quiz-A celebration of knowledge and talent

29th December, 2019 witnessed the grand celebration of knowledge, education, intelligence, knowhow, judgment etc. and the quiz enthusiast of the state irrespective of age, gender, profession showed their brilliance and intelligence. The All Tripura Mega Quiz organised by was a perfect platform to showcase the pure talent that this small hilly state possess proving the fact that why the students of the state had made their mark very successfully in all fields both within the country and outside. This very fact was highlighted by the Chairman of the Mega Quiz Organising Committee and veteran Journalist Shekhar Dutta who reiterated that Tripura never had or has dearth of talent. He mentioned the name of Braja Gopal Debnath who got through IIT entrance in early sixties and followed by IGP Amitabha Kar. He also talked about Siddhartha Purkayastha who stood second in the Higher Secondary Examination of West Bengal Board Of Secondary Education in 1967. This is followed by countless such achievers from this state and the performance of the contestants as well as the audience is a definite indication of this the talent this state has. 

 The quiz had participants of all ages from small children, students from school to various colleges and universities as well as professionals. There were many veterans also who have been participating in the quiz since its inception. All were mesmerised by the fact that baring few almost all the questions asked by the three very stalwart quiz masters of national repute were answered. The show also witnessed an august gathering ranging from politicians, senior officials, retired bureaucrats,  civil servants, journalists, senior professionals to students both from state and outside, young people both working and job aspirants and even homemakers. It was a full day of pure quizzing which saw active participation of the very accomplished and sound audience. It was such a wonderful experience to see some homemakers amongst the audience answered tough questions which cannot be answered by even the participating teams. Participants from the audience answered some questions which the quiz masters themselves said were really tough. It was an emotional moment when a young chap won audience prize and when called on stage he told that he works as a delivery boy in swiggy and took leave for the day just to attend the quiz program. He also told that last year he won the best audience award and a cash prize of ten thousand rupees. This quiz was not only about hardcore quizzing but also a blend of myriad emotions. Mr. Bharat Jain who comes all the way from Hyderabad to conduct the quiz shared his journey with the show and told how over the years he feels connected with the state. He told he never ever miss the opportunity to visit Matabari. Another such emotional moment was the surprise arrival of Dr. M.J. Panickar. He and Mr. Abhijit Bhattacharya were the quiz masters since the beginning of the program way back in 2006. While Mr. Abhijit Bhattacharya continued to add glory to the show over the years but Dr. M.J. Panicker has to leave due to his professional commitment and moved to Oman. From there he used to conduct one round over telephone and give away cash prizes every year. This year also the expectation was that Dr. Panicker wud conduct that round from Oman but it was a pleasant surprise to all when he came in person on the stage. The round was a wonderful one as lot of people won cash prizes and Dr. Panicker was present in the stage himself to conduct the round as well as give away the prize. It was lovely to see the Panicker brothers on stage together. Mr.Nandu Panciker who took the baton from his brother and since then conducting the quiz successfully asked for a picture with his elder brother on the stage of the All Tripura Mega Quiz which according to him was his long cherished dream. Such was the emotion involved with this mega quiz. 

A good initiative was taken by the organisers this year. They felicitated all the dignitaries with plant saplings. Keeping in view the environmental preservation and the need to plant more trees the saplings were gifted which are easy to plant and nurture. They wanted to give the message loud and clear that the need of the hour is to plant trees in order to save further environmental degradation and combat the ever increasing global warming and climate change. Their effort is well appreciated by all the dignitaries present. Now to talk about the dignitaries present, the list is long. Manik Sarkar, the former Chief Minister and the incumbent leader of the opposition was present. He has attended this event every year since its inception. The Honourable Deputy Chief Minister also graced the occasion. Other dignitaries included ONGCs Executive Director and Asset Manager O.P. Singh, Political leader Rajib Bhattacharya, former deputy speaker Pabitra Kar, renowned advocate and PCC president in-charge Pijush Biswas, Ex-MLA and present state vice president of PCC Tapas Dey, Chairperson of Tripura Child Rights Commission Nilima Ghosh, DGP in-charge Rajiv Singh, Advisor(ILS)  Kishore Ambuly, Editor of NorthEast Colours Sanjib Deb, Principal of Holy Cross school Father Bobby John, News Editor of Dainik Sambad Pradip Dutta Bhowmik, Chief Editor of Headlines Tripura news channel Pranab Sarkar. Former Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman was also present and he steals the show with his melodious song 'Me shayar toh nahi'. The highlight of the entire event was the presence of RJ Praveen. He was definitely the show stopper. His presence in the show gave the right amount of entertainment required to bind the audience to their seats for the entire day. He added an amount of fun and amusement to an otherwise very serious quiz show.

This year a total of 187 team participated. Each team had two members. The first prize is bagged by Amlan Gupta and Saptik Chackraborty . Second prize went to Ranjan Pal and Debankur Bhowmik and third prize to Dipankar Pal and Tapash Chandra Deb. The best school prize of rupees ten thousand was won by Holycross School. The best audience prize is won by Deepjoy Das. He won a cash prize of rupees five thousand. In addition to that more than hundred prizes were won by the audience along with cash prizes too. The quiz ended with the pledge to return next year and with an ever increasing participation of all section of the society. The aim of this show is to instil an interest of quizzing amongst all as well as acknowledge those who have the interest and knowledge for quizzing. So the wait continues for the next years’ event.
