GOVT PUSHES TECHNOLOGY UPGRADATION AND DIGITALISATION FOR MSMES

New Delhi, Dec 09, 2025 : The government has stepped up efforts to boost technology upgradation and digitalisation across the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, with a series of schemes aimed at improving competitiveness, skill development, and advanced technology access for small enterprises.

According to the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, multiple initiatives are underway, including the MSE-Cluster Development Programme, Technology Centres, the Green Investment Financing for Transformation (GIFT) Scheme, and the MSME Champions Scheme. These programmes focus on modernisation, quality enhancement, green technology adoption and strengthening digital capabilities of MSMEs.

The Ministry said digitalisation efforts are being accelerated through platforms such as the Udyam Registration Portal, MSME Champions Portal, Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS), MSME Mart, MSME Sambandh, and the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) portal. These tools facilitate online procurement, e-market access, digital registration, receivable financing and speedy grievance redressal.

Under the scheme for Establishment of New Technology Centres and Extension Centres, the government is setting up 20 new Technology Centres (TCs) and 100 Extension Centres (ECs) across the country to expand access to technology solutions, skilled manpower training, and advisory support. Of the approved locations, two—Gaya in Bihar and Bokaro in Jharkhand—fall under aspirational districts.

The Ministry has also set up 65 Export Facilitation Centres (EFCs) across its field offices, Technology Centres, and Testing Centres to provide mentoring and handholding to MSMEs aiming to enhance export competitiveness.

The information was shared by Minister of State for MSME Sushri Shobha Karandlaje in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
