A high level meeting was held today in the conference hall of the DM (west) office to ensure grand success of the ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’ (service light journey) to commemorate the assumption of government office for the first time by prime minister Narendra Modi as chief minister of Gujrat in the year 2001. It was on this day in 2001 that Narendra Modi had assumed the charge of Gujrat chief minister and steered the state to the status of one of the highest-industrialised states in the country during his tenure till till May 2014-that is for close to thirteen years. During this period Modi had steered the state successfully through the devastating earthquake in Bhuj district of the state and the communal riots of February 2002 and made Gujrat a truly developed state.
This year the government of India celebrate the day of October 7 as the ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’ dedicated to the welfare of and service to the people on the occasion of completion of Modi’s twenty five years in uninterrupted public service through a series of programmes. The meeting today was presided over by the minister for transport and tourism Sushanta Chowdhury and attended among others by the DM (west) Dr Vishal Kumar, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder and the ‘Sabhadhipati’ of west district Zilla Parishad Bishwajit Shil. The meeting also discussed the arrangements to be made for the programme.
