Tipra Motha leadership has claimed that the party is poised to secure victory in more than 470 Village Councils (VCs) in the ongoing TTAADC Village Committee elections, with the NDA alliance expected to take control of around 500 of the 587 Village Councils.

Speaking after a review meeting, Tipra Motha leader Brishaketu Debbarma said the party, along with its NDA partners, would emerge victorious in approximately more than 500 Village Councils. The claim comes amid intense political competition over control of the grassroots institutions under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

According to Brishaketu Debbarma, the party's internal assessment following the latest review indicates that Tipra Motha has a strong position across a large number of Village Councils. Already Tipra Motha won more than 200 VCs uncontested.

He suggested that the combined strength of Tipra Motha and its NDA partners could enable the alliance to establish control over around 500 VCs.

The review meeting was held at Agartala today to assess the electoral situation following the completion of the nomination, withdrawal and campaign processes. Party leaders reportedly examined the prospects of candidates across different constituencies and reviewed the likely outcome based on the organisation's assessment at the grassroots level. The meeting was held in presence of Ranjit Debbarma.

However, Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma was not present at the review meeting.

The latest claim is significant because the TTAADC Village Committee elections involve 587 Village Councils with 4,597 seats, making the polls one of the most important grassroots contests in the tribal areas of Tripura. The elections have witnessed a multi-cornered contest involving Tipra Motha, BJP, CPI(M), Congress, IPFT and independent candidates.

Tipra Motha's leadership has been seeking to consolidate its organisational dominance in the ADC areas, while the BJP and other political parties are also attempting to expand their influence among tribal voters. The final outcome will determine the composition and political control of the Village Committees across the TTAADC region.

The claim of victory in more than 470 VCs, and the projection of nearly 500 VCs for the NDA, however, remains a political assessment by the Tipra Motha leadership. The actual number of Village Councils won by each party or alliance will only be established after the official counting and declaration of results by the competent election authorities.
