CM Dr Manik Saha presides over garment distribution among people in Ward No-39

The chief minister Dr Manik Saha today presided over a garment distribution before ‘Durga Puja’ in Ward no-39 of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). The programme had been organized by the coporator of Ward no-39 Alak Roy in the Ward office and a large number of poor people of the Ward had gathered to collect the garments being distributed.

The chief minister Dr Manik Saha and the Bardowali ‘Mandal’ president Shyamal Kumar Dey were the chief guests in the programme. As part of the pre-puja bonanza for the poor people the corporator Alak Roy had arranged many garments including ‘Sarees’ for poor women for distribution in the programme. Dr Saha distributed many garments while others were distributed by ‘Mandal’ president Shyamal Kumar Dey and corporator Alak Roy.

Addressing the programme described the initiative taken by the corporator as a ‘noble gesture’ and said that service to people is actually service to God. He called upon the gathering of people to celebrate and enjoy the upcoming ‘Durga Puja’ in a peaceful manner as well as to keep the celebration within limits of law. Dr Saha said that the state government is making all arrangements for makimg the entire ‘Durga Puja’ festival peaceful and smooth but added that it is only the will of the people that can truly make a mass festival peaceful.
