The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Agartala, observed National Voluntary Blood Donation Day by organising its first-ever voluntary blood donation camp at its campus in R.K. Nagar, Khayerpur, on Thursday.
The initiative brought together staff members and students of NIELIT Agartala in a collective effort to promote voluntary blood donation and contribute to the healthcare needs of the community.
Shri Keshav Hari Jamatia, Assistant Commandant of the TSR 2nd Battalion, graced the programme as the Chief Guest. Dr. Chapal Debnath, representing the IGM Hospital Blood Bank, was also present at the camp. Shri Niladri Das, Director-in-Charge, NIELIT Agartala, welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, staff members and students attending the programme.
The blood donation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from the NIELIT fraternity. More than 50 staff members and students voluntarily donated blood, making the first blood donation camp organised at the NIELIT Agartala campus a significant and meaningful initiative.
The programme highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation as a simple yet vital act of community service. The participation of students and employees reflected a strong spirit of compassion, social responsibility and humanitarian service.
The camp was organised around the inspiring message: “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.” The message sought to encourage more people, particularly young citizens, to come forward and donate blood voluntarily to help patients in need.
The participation of the NIELIT Agartala community also underscored the institution's commitment to extending its role beyond education and technology training and contributing to wider social welfare initiatives.
The organisers expressed the hope that the initiative would encourage students and staff to continue supporting voluntary blood donation and create greater awareness about the importance of maintaining an adequate supply of safe blood for emergency and medical requirements.
The first-ever blood donation camp at NIELIT Agartala thus marked National Voluntary Blood Donation Day with a strong message of humanity, community participation and service to society.
