Minor girl serially raped by youth in Maiganga area of Teliamura, arrested

High incidence of sex-related crimes has become a degrading feature of the new Tripura reeling under multiple problems. In the latest such outrage, a youth was arrested this morning by a police team of Teliamura police station from the Maiganga area under the Krishnapur assembly constitutency.

Police sources from Teliamura said that Satyam Shil (26), a youth of Maiganga area, had managed to win the trust of a minor girl whose parents live in a neighouring house. Taking advantage of his proximity to the minor girl notorious Satyam Shil raped her repeatedly, taking her to different places including his own house. But the matter drew attention of the girl’s parents who filed a complaint with the Teliamura police station on the basis of the confession of sexual contact with Satyam by the minor girl who is only a student of class IX in the local school.

Acting upon the complaint a police team this morning picked up Satyam Shil from his ,house in Maiganga area and registered him as arrested on the charge of rape of a minor girl. The officer in charge of Teliamura police station Jayanta De said that Satyam Shill has been booked under various sections related to rape and sexual abuse of minor girl and is being put up in court today for police remand. The charge-sheet in the case will also be filed soon, inspector Jayanta De said .
