Major YABA Seizure in Joint Operation by South Tripura District Police and NCB

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team of South Tripura District Police and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted a raid-cum-search operation at Jolaibari under South Tripura District.

The police team was led by Shri Bapi Debbarma, SDPO Santirbazar, along with Inspector Arunodaya Das, Officer-in-Charge, Baikhora Police Station, and SI Khokan Das, Officer-in-Charge, Jolaibari Outpost, in close coordination with NCB officials.

During the operation, a tipper truck carrying stone chips was intercepted and subjected to a thorough search. The joint team recovered and seized eight packets containing YABA tablets, weighing approximately 8 kg (around 80,000 tablets), which had been concealed within the consignment. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹3.2 crore.

Three persons have been detained in connection with the seizure. Necessary legal action is being initiated under the provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the forward and backward linkages of the trafficking network.

The successful operation highlights the effective coordination between South Tripura District Police and the Narcotics Control Bureau in combating cross-border narcotics trafficking.
