High level meeting held in BJP office, CM , Biplab and state president present

With the elections to the Village Committees under the ADC drawing near and uncertainty over understanding with the ‘Tipra Motha’ growing, the BJP state leadership including all the MLA, ministers and leaders from the ‘Mandal’ level tody sat in a meeting in the party headquarter at Krishna Nagar. The meeting which is considered important was attended among others by the chief minister Dr Manik Saha , former chief minister and newly anointed general secretary of the party at all India level Biplab Kumar Deb, incumbent party president and MLA Abhishek Debroy and other leaders including MLAs.

Even though what transpired in the meeting was not given out by anyone, sources in BJP said that the main agenda of the meeting was strengthening the organization in the context of upcoming Village Committee polls. The leaders discussed the implications of the absence of any electoral understanding with the ‘Tipra Motha’ in the Village Committee polls . The senior leaders asked all the attendees to deepen and expand contact with the common people in the tribal areas and in the state at large as well as to create awareness among people about the welfare programmes being implemented by the central and state governments.

Apart from this a blue-print of organizational initiative was also discussed in the meeting. The leaders including the chief minister and Biplab Kumar Deb stressed the need for strengthening the organization as the most effective means of fighting off any challenge from the opposition. Several problems being faced by party workers and local leaders at the grassroot level were also discussed and it was decided that the government will do whatever is required to maintain the law and order in the state in the run-up to the Village Committee polls . Sources said that the party leadership is trying to prepare the organization to face any challenge in case the election has to be fought on its own without electoral understanding with the ‘Tipra Motha’.
