RS MP Rajiv Bhattacharjee holds press conference, justifies suspension of Sudip from house

Former BJP state president and incumbent Rajya Sabha MP of the party from Tripura Rajiv Bhattacharjee today held an interactive session with the media in the state BJP’s headquarter ‘Kushabhai Bhawan’ at Krishna Nagar. He spoke on a range of issues and replied to queries made by the media person on a range of issues.

While speaking in the interactive session Rajiv Bhattacharjee justified the suspension of Congress MLA Sudip Roybarman from the assembly yesterday by the speaker Rampada Jamatya . “The speaker is the highest authority within the assembly and his directives have to be complied with by all members; what Sudip Roybarman did yesterday in the name of raising an issue is utterly shameful; in stead of obeying the speaker’s ruling to sit on his chair and stop disrupting proceedings in the house he foul-mouthed the speaker ; what else could the speaker do except suspending him ; what Sudip did does not behove an MLA and to that extent the speaker was justified in taking action against him” said Rajiv Bhattacharjee.

He also castigated the highly provocative statements and pronouncements of the opposition CPI (M) leaders like former chief minister Manik Sarkar and Jiten Chowdhury. “What Manik Sarkar has been saying in various meetings is politically indecent and harmful to social harmony and peace; he is asking the youths of the state to rise in militant revolt ; what does this mean ? Similarly, Jiten Chowdhury has also been instigating the young people to resort to violent agitations with a view to destabilizing the state ; this is totally unacceptable” said Rajiv. He felt the irresponsible utterances of the CPI (M) leaders are telling upon peace and harmony in the state.

Rajiv also spoke on ‘Tipra Motha’ while replying to a query . He said that there has been no formal discussion with the ‘Tipra Motha’ over an electoral alliance but a possibility of understanding with the ‘Tipra Motha’ can not be ruled out . “There should however be no speculation over this issue ; whatever will happen will happen openly” said Rajiv asking media persons not be misled by speculation and propaganda.
