AMC Mayor holds important meeting on ‘Durga Puja’ with corporators and officials

The Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder today held a high level meeting with senior officials of the Corporation as well as corporators of all 51 Wards in the council room of the AMC in City Centre. The meeting was held to discuss threadbare how best the upcoming ‘Durga Puja’ festival can be organized in and around the state capital and what the AMC can do to ensure a smooth and peaceful ‘Durga Puja’ festival .

While speaking in the meeting the Mayor highlighted certain problems and glitches that need to be resolved to ensure a peaceful ‘Durga Puja’ festival . A number of corporators had flagged the problem of road conditions and drainage system in the town and how these problems can be solved or at least minimized before the commencement of ‘Durga Puja’. The Mayor Dipak Majumder said that he has been in touch with the agencies carrying out the construction works on road and drains and has instructed them to complete the works in time so that no problem is created for people during ‘Puja’ festivities. He was supported in his contention by officials present in the meeting including the AMC commissioner D.K.Chakma.

The Mayor assured the corporators that he is doing his best to ensure removal of all the obstacles in the way of a smooth celebration of ‘Durga Puja’ festivities and proper conditions will be created for this. This time the AMC will take several steps to provide relief to the ‘Puja’ revelers by providing them with free drinking water supply and also by taking other measures including arrangements for proper security. Dipak Majumder also appealed to all the corporators to initiate measures in their respective Wards so that the ‘Puja’ festivities are smooth and peaceful and said that he will personally monitor and inspect the pre-Puja conditions in all the AMC Wards in Agartala.
