CM to visit Delhi; Dr Saha says TET will be regular but recruitment drives to be in phases

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will leave for New Delhi on Wednesday, where discussions related to the forthcoming elections are likely to take place alongside other official engagements.

Speaking to reporters before his departure, Dr Saha said there was no fixed agenda for the visit but indicated that both organisational and administrative matters could be discussed.

"We often visit Delhi for different requirements. Sometimes for organisational purposes and on many occasions for administrative agendas. This time, I am going to Delhi. While there is no pre-decided agenda, chances are high that we shall have discussions related to the forthcoming elections," Dr Saha said.

The Chief Minister also said the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) would continue to be conducted regularly, while recruitment of teachers would be carried out in phases depending on the availability of vacancies and the state's financial capacity.

Dr Saha said conducting the eligibility examination and appointing teachers were two separate processes. Recruitment would be undertaken after assessing vacant posts and the government's financial position, he said.

The Chief Minister's remarks come amid demands from TET-qualified candidates for early recruitment to government schools.

Dr Saha reiterated that the state government remained committed to strengthening the education sector while ensuring that teacher recruitment was carried out in accordance with administrative requirements and available resources.
