Tripura Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy on Tuesday said any response to the recent remarks made by former Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik on the Bharatiya Janata Party's affairs should come from the party's top state leadership.
Roy made the remarks when asked by reporters to comment on observations made by Bhoumik during a recent podcast, in which she expressed disappointment over the party's present functioning and alleged that workers who had struggled to secure the BJP's electoral victories were being sidelined.
"The person whom you are referring to is a senior leader. She had been a Union Minister. She previously served as General Secretary and Vice President of the Pradesh BJP. Any reaction to her statements should come from the party's top leadership rather than the spokespersons and ministers," Roy said.
He said commenting on the matter was "beyond my prerogative".
Bhoumik, a former Union Minister and senior BJP leader, had recently voiced concern over the party's organisational functioning, alleging that dedicated workers who had stood by the party during difficult periods were no longer receiving due recognition.
Roy, however, refrained from commenting on the substance of Bhoumik's observations and maintained that the issue should be addressed by the party's senior leadership.
