Manik Sarkar and Jitendra Chaudhury Pay Glowing Tributes to Former Tripura Governor Dr. DY Patil

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura Legislative Assembly Jitendra Chaudhury have expressed profound grief over the demise of former Tripura Governor Dr. DY Patil, remembering him as an eminent statesman, educationist, philanthropist and a true well-wisher of Tripura.

In his condolence message, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said he was "very sad and deeply shocked" to learn about the demise of Dr. DY Patil and found it difficult to believe that the former Governor was no more. Recalling his association with Dr. Patil, Sarkar said the latter was not merely the constitutional head of the state but, from the very core of his heart, a sincere well-wisher of the overall development and progress of Tripura and its people. He noted that, during his tenure as Governor, Dr. Patil made every possible effort to persuade the Government of India to extend greater support for the state's development. Paying his highest respects to Dr. Patil's memory, Sarkar conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and observed that those who had the opportunity to work with him in Tripura would never forget him.

Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury also expressed deep sorrow over Dr. Patil's demise, describing him as a symbol of true statesmanship, an outstanding philanthropist, a dedicated crusader for modern education and sports, and an accomplished custodian of constitutional institutions. Chaudhury said that during his tenure as Governor of Tripura and Bihar, Dr. Patil earned the admiration of the elected government, legislators, political parties, bureaucrats and the common people, who regarded him as a compassionate friend, philosopher and guide. He also recalled Dr. Patil's deep affection for Tripura and said that the people of the state reciprocated that affection with immense respect.

Both veteran Left leaders paid rich tributes to the late Governor, saying that Dr. DY Patil's lifelong dedication to education, public service, constitutional values and the welfare of Tripura would remain an enduring legacy for generations to come.
