Tripura government law college in fresh controversy, competence of assistant professor questioned

Serious questions have surfaced over the competence of assistant professor of government law college , Dr M.Acharjee, and the fairness of his selection by the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). Sources miffed by the allegedly unethical activities of assistant professor Dr M.Acharjee said that he had been selected by the TPSC on 29th November 2022 but his selection had more to do with political interference with the TPSC than his eligibility or competence. Sources said M.Acharjee had not cleared mandatory NET exam and his so-called Phd was not also on political science for which he was appointed as assistant professor.

His thesis was on dairy milk production, according to sources , and with Phd in such a subject he could never be considered for selection as an assistant professor for the subject of political science. Sources from government law college alleged that ever since joining the college he has been performing several important administrative responsibilities and has also created a fear psychosis in the minds of students . In all his activities he is fully backed by the principal of the college Vivek Kumar Mishra . For the past two years he has been the co-ordinator of the ABRSM unit where he exercises unauthorized power.

Sources said that the college students and a number of other teachers are so fed up with Dr M.Acharjee’s activities that they are planning to file a complaint to the competent authority against him . Interestingly , the principal of the college is totally indifferent to what Dr M.Acharjee has been doing under the garb of assistant professor but things are likely to take serious turn soon unless remedial action is taken, sources added.
