GMP Alleges Massive Irregularities, Nepotism and Recruitment Scam in TTAADC Administration

The Ganamukti Parishad (GMP) on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Tipra Motha-led administration of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), alleging large-scale irregularities in recruitment, financial mismanagement, nepotism and administrative failure.
Addressing a press conference in Agartala, GMP General Secretary and former Executive Member of the ADC, Radhacharan Debbarma, claimed that the council administration lacks transparency and accountability. He demanded immediate corrective measures and urged the administration to answer the concerns raised before the people.
Debbarma alleged that several recruitment processes for posts such as engineers, nurses, veterinary staff, Amins and agriculture assistants have already been completed, but appointment letters have still not been issued to successful candidates. He also demanded the immediate filling of vacant posts across the ADC administration.
According to him, when the Left Front was voted out of power in the ADC, around 7,000–8,000 vacancies existed, and Tipra Motha had promised to fill them after assuming office. He further claimed that the party had also promised recruitment of nearly 1,200 ADC police personnel, but alleged that no meaningful action has been taken.
Citing official figures, Debbarma alleged that the workforce in the ADC has declined sharply,
from nearly 6,000 employees in 2020 to around 3,923 at present, leaving approximately 1,750 posts vacant. Instead of conducting regular recruitment, he alleged that appointments are being made in an irregular and non-transparent manner, favouring close associates.
The GMP leader also accused the ADC administration of financial mismanagement and criticised what he described as double standards in governance. He alleged that several development activities have stalled while administrative functioning has deteriorated.
Raising concerns over the functioning of the council, Debbarma claimed that more than three months after the elections, the TTAADC still does not have a full-fledged Executive Council, affecting governance and decision-making.
He further alleged that jobs are being sold and that corruption has become widespread within the ADC administration. Referring to the ADC's pig farms, he claimed that 77 pigs died within a short period, adding that while the farms earlier housed over 4,000 piglets, the number has now reportedly fallen to fewer than 100, which he described as evidence of the deteriorating state of the council's development programmes.
Debbarma also took a political swipe at Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, alleging that while he speaks about safeguarding the rights of the Tiprasa people, his actions are primarily aimed at the advancement of himself and his family.
The allegations were made by the GMP during the press conference. There was no immediate response from the TTAADC administration or Tipra Motha leadership to the claims at the time of filing this report.
